School of Engineering, Computer Sciences and Construction Management
Roger Williams University

BTGA was retained by Roger Williams University to undertake an assessment of space needs for the School of Engineering, Computing, and Construction Management department. We worked with the University to develop scenarios of potential programming and schematic solutions. The design will create a new identity for the School and will allow space for future partnerships. The building is designed to foster community through collaborative learning, flexible interaction, and hands on experiences. The SECCM program is not accomplished by didactic teaching, but through many avenues that range from traditional to experimental, group to individual, social to hands-on. Spaces will provide an educational experience that engages and satisfies the demands of the programs, including room for large scale model building. The design includes exterior materials that take into account the surrounding buildings and the need for durability against high winds and salty air due to its proximity to the ocean.
