Rhode Island College
School of Nursing

In 2012, the State of Rhode Island approved bond funding to support renovations, upgrades, and an expansion of the Rhode Island College School of Nursing and Health Sciences facilities in the Fogarty Life Sciences Building. BTGA, in association with RCG Architects, was engaged by RIC to conduct an evaluation of Fogarty Hall and provide programming and conceptual planning services for the renovations and expansion of the facilities to accommodate the growing programming needs. BTGA worked closely with the usergroups to develop community buy-in through presentations. This approximately 10,000-square-foot addition includes specialized laboratories designed to accommodate multiple functions for changing classroom needs, including simulation equipment, electronic monitoring, and movable working stations. It was important to the School of Nursing that they create a space that their students could call their own. The large glass walls, open entry, and modern finishes created a gathering space where students could see the activities of the adjacent classrooms and interact with their peers. This building is helping to draw potential students to the College as it continues to expand.
