Firm Background & Expertise
 

Mary Dorsey Brewster, AIA is the founder of the firm.  Her experience in quality design offices such William Kite Architects and the Office of Michael Rosenfeld, along with a professional architectural degree from the Rhode Island School of Design, has resulted in high quality projects throughout Rhode Island and neighboring Massachusetts. She has won citations from the Providence Preservation Society and from the RI Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. 

Barbara J. Thornton, AIA joined the firm in 2000, expanding the firm’s institutional experience and large-project management capacity.  She holds 4 degrees from MIT, including Masters in Architecture and in Finance, and has practiced with RGB, David Presbrey Architects, and William Kite Architects since coming to Rhode Island in 1986.  Her specialties include affordable housing, historic building renovation, masonry restoration, and educational facilities. Ms. Thornton brings additional recreational facility experience to the firm.

Nathaniel J. Ginsburg, AIA joined the firm in 2002. He is responsible for the firm’s project and staffing scheduling, management of project team workloads, and oversight of the NCARB Intern Development Program. His focus is on expanding the adaptive reuse and renovations experience. 

BTGA has extensive experience in working with new structures, coupled with an understanding of the needs of adapting older structures to new uses. We have worked on sensitive design projects in the Historic Districts and neighborhoods of Providence, Warwick, North Kingstown, Jamestown, Barrington, Cape Cod, and throughout Rhode Island.
