Affordable Housing - Other

BTGA has been involved in numerous additional affordable housing and low-income housing projects, including:

YMCA TOWER – While with David Presbrey Architects, Barbara Thornton became Project Architect for the federally-funded renovation of the Downtown Providence Y’s tower housing, 178 units for previously or marginally homeless transitional use. New mechanical, fire safety, and electrical systems were threaded through this brick, concrete, and terracotta 15-story tower. Interior hallways, stair towers, and bathrooms were completed refinished, and the exterior shell was repaired.

ELIZABETH BUFFUM CHACE HOUSE - Ms. Brewster designed handicapped accessibility renovations for this women’s shelter.  Working with Director Sally Dixon, she prepared supporting presentation documents for their successful grant application.  New communal and handicapped bathroom areas were added.  She also designed kitchen, dining, and laundry renovations for future implementation.
